Description
With Valentine's Day a week away, I decided to create some digital valentines. I thought it would be a fun and quick project, but after a couple of hours I realized what I had produced was too sweet and sappy and a bit revolting. It's what comes of trying to produce something that I imagine might be what someone else would expect. So I decided to scrap it all because I just don't do sweet and romantic very well. I browsed through a few folders of digital odds and end, pieces of work I had started and abandoned, parts of pictures, and so on, until I found something more interesting. After adjusting colors, putting the image through a variety of filters and so on, I decided the missing element was a heart. And so I arrived at a valentine. Not the usual kind, but there is a heart there under the scribbles-- an ordinary type heart, a bit hard to reach, not chocolate covered and not surrounded with lace and frills. Hope you like it.

A great valentine, Sarah.....I loved the image even before I noticed the title!! And the way you discovered it reminds me of my work...."parts of pictures"....sometimes the best work is there! F/L+++

Thank you, Nancy! It's a fun way to work-- we get to surprise ourselves with the outcome. :)

I do very much like it. Your process is fascinating, and I'm sure there's even more to it. Great result.
