Tyler State Park Lake at Sunset
I visited Tyler State Park recently. It is located deep in the woods of East Texas about halfway between Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. President FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps created the park between 1935 and 1941, and some of the original buildings are still in use. There are tons of camping sites for tent camping, RV camping and there are also cabins to rent, so it covers various levels of roughing it. It has a 64 acre lake that is popular for kayaking, canoeing and swimming as well as fishing. The park also has miles of trails including a 2.1 mile trail that goes all the way around the lake.
I was hiking the lake trail when I found this location, then I went back and grabbed my camera gear and hiked the entire route around the lake to check out other locations. There are quite a few, but this one really stood out to me. I really like how the shape of the cove makes like a winding, mirrored pathway into the distan...
