Description
First Nations people named it Takakkaw which roughly translates as "it is magnificent" in the Cree language. As you first glimpse Takakkaw Falls during your drive on Yoho Valley Road in Yoho National Park (British Columbia, Canada), you can't believe your eyes. First at its magnificence, and second at the clean clean air! On a sunny day, it was so clear that there didn't appear to be one particle of anything in the air. It has a total height of 384 m (1259'), ranking it as one of the highest in Canada. Even though it is narrow, the water is thundering over the cliff and sending spray a hundred or more meters downstream. Fed by the Daly Glacier above, Takakkaw Falls' flow is at its peak in July when glacial meltwater is running freely. Magnificent hardly describes it!
