When my father was a very young man in the 1920s he put a labeled collection of leaves into a notebook. I believe this was most likely a school project as the notebook also had an essay and some algebraic equations. For reasons only known to him he kept this book his entire 84 years of life. I discovered the book after both my parents had passed away. I had no desire to keep the collection, but neither could I dispose of it since he had hung on to it for all these years. After several years of indecision, it came to me to photograph pages. Some I turned into collages, but this image of a now 100 year old maple leaf needed to be all on its own.
